XBoxMMA FAQ

How are the user ratings calculated?
XBoxMMA.com uses a modified form of the Elo rating system. The Elo rating system is the system used in the world of chess and Scrabble as well as many other online gaming formats including Yahoo! Games.
How are the tournament seedings determined?
Currently tournament seedings are randomly chosen when each user joins a tournament.
Can I manually set the player seeds for my tournament?
At the moment, no. Currently all tournaments have random seeding. In the near future, tournament admins will be able to set the seeds manually for private tournaments only. Public tournaments will always be seeded randomly.
Shouldn't the seeds be by user rating and not random?
Excellent question. In the future, the seeding system for public tournaments may change to use the user rating instead of a random seed. The only issue with using user rating, is that the rating isn't always that valuable until a user has, at a very minimum, ten (10) games played in the system.
When/How does my tournament start?
Your tournament will automatically start once all the spots are full. An email will be sent out to all the tournament participants letting them know the tournament has begun. To get your tournament started quickly, invite your friends from XBoxMMA.com or other friends via email to join your tournament.
When do I play my matches? I don't see any dates or times anywhere.
Once your tournament has started, you can play your next match whenever you want to. There are no restrictions or specific dates and times you need to play. Just visit your tournament's home page and look who your next opponent is. Then just content them on XBoxMMA.com or on XBoxLIVE and setup a time to play your game. Once you match is over, return to the tournament page and report the results of your match so you can see who your next opponent will be.
How do I report the results of my match?
When you have played your match on XBoxLIVE, just return back to your tournament page here on XBoxMMA.com and report the outcome of the fight. Under the "Tournament Results" section of the tournament page, you will fight the matchups for each round. Next to your matchup, there will be a "Report Result" link where you can report the result of your match.
What about cheating? How do you prevent people from lying about match outcomes?
There is no way to prevent all forms of cheating, but we are doing our best at XBoxMMA.com. After a fight is complete, both fighters are required to report the result online. If both users report the same result, then we know the result is accurate and we confirm the result. If both users report a different outcome, then the match goes into a "disputed" state, and it is up to the tournament admin to resolve the dispute.
What can I do if my question is not answered here in the FAQ?
If your question isn't answered by the current FAQ, please be sure to visit our Feedback page and send us a message. Most likely we will just add your question to the FAQ to help other users as well.
